iPhone 17e: The Weakest of Its Generation in Terms of Battery Life!

TECH NEWS – The new smartphone is inexpensive, but its battery drains quickly compared to those of the iPhone 17 product family.

Apple made an extremely attractive offer with the iPhone 16e for those who wanted to enter the company’s hardware and software ecosystem: a $600 package boasting the best battery life of any 6.1-inch iPhone on the market at the time. However, if we consider only durability, the latest comparison shows that Apple may have overlooked this aspect in its latest release, making it the worst-performing model in the current lineup.

Unless improved specifications at last year’s price are important to you, there is no reason to switch to the iPhone 17e. According to Apple‘s comparison chart, the latest device is on par with the iPhone 16e in terms of normal and streamed video playback. However, the iPhone Air and base iPhone 17 outperform the iPhone 17e in this category.

Video playback: iPhone 17e – up to 26 hours, iPhone 16e – up to 26 hours, iPhone 17 – up to 30 hours, iPhone Air – up to 27 hours, iPhone 17 Pro – up to 33 hours, iPhone 17 Pro Max – up to 39 hours.
Video playback (streamed): iPhone 17e – up to 21 hours, iPhone 16e – up to 21 hours, iPhone 17 – up to 27 hours, iPhone Air – up to 22 hours, iPhone 17 Pro – up to 30 hours, iPhone 17 Pro Max – up to 35 hours.

There is no confirmation that the iPhone 17e has the same battery capacity as its immediate predecessor. We will have to wait for a detailed teardown to answer this difficult question. However, since the other specifications have remained the same between the two generations of smartphones, we believe that Apple did not update the battery.

This year’s updates include a 6-core CPU and 4-core GPU, an A19 processor with neural accelerators, and a more powerful C1X 5G modem in the significantly more expensive iPhone Air. Additionally, the iPhone 17e offers MagSafe charging, twice the internal storage at the same price, and enhanced front-facing protection with Ceramic Shield 2.
