Like most subscription services, PS Plus keeps refreshing its catalog by adding new games and removing others. Just a few days ago, attention was on the April 2026 Extra and Premium lineup, which welcomed titles such as Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered and The Crew Motorfest. Now, however, the conversation has shifted to what is about to disappear from the service in May.
And this is not one of those quiet little catalog cleanups nobody really notices. A total of seven games are set to leave Sony’s service in mid-May 2026, including titles a lot of players were still planning to get to. Among the biggest losses are Control: Ultimate Edition and Mortal Shell, two games that would have made especially appealing discoveries through the subscription service with sequels already looming on the horizon.
That is exactly what makes the timing sting a bit more. Both franchises are expected to continue later this year with Control Resonant and Mortal Shell 2, which means PS Plus could have been a perfect entry point for anyone looking to finally catch up. Instead, Sony is effectively closing that door, at least through the subscription itself.
These Are the Games Leaving PS Plus Extra and Premium
The list of departures for May 2026 includes Moto GP 25, Sand Land, Soul Hackers 2, Mortal Shell and Mortal Shell Enhanced Edition, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope, Control: Ultimate Edition, and The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan. That is a broad enough selection that players with very different tastes are likely to find at least one title in there they will miss.
Of course, PS Plus is not only about removals. As mentioned earlier this month, the Extra and Premium tiers were recently refreshed with a batch of eight additions in total: seven games for Extra subscribers and one extra classic for Premium members. On top of that, the monthly game lineup also updated, which means users can currently claim Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, and Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream.
Still, that will not matter much to anyone who had Control or Mortal Shell sitting on their backlog and thought they had more time. The message here is simple enough: if one of these games was on your radar, now is probably the moment to stop delaying, because once mid-May arrives, the subscription door closes and the only path back in will be buying them outright.
