TECH NEWS – Valve’s new controller sold out almost immediately, figuratively speaking, so Gabe Newell and his team made another bit of money.
Valve’s latest Steam Controller, also the first of the company’s previously announced new hardware products, has officially launched, and players can now order it directly through Steam. More precisely, they can do so only if there is anything left to order, because the controller sold out less than 30 minutes after release. These days, the launch of any popular new product, whether in gaming or any other market, turns into a contest over who has the faster internet connection or who can enter card details more quickly, and the Steam Controller was no exception. The new controller shot straight to the top of Steam’s best-selling products list and disappeared almost as quickly as it arrived.
keep checking Steam Controller page if you want one, likely will go in and out for a bit (at time of posting it’s in-stock again) https://t.co/WywGESm3pO

The Steam Controller page currently shows an “Out of Stock” message, although it is worth noting that Wario64 on Twitter, who regularly shares retail links for available products, recommends that players who want to buy the controller keep the Steam page open and check frequently to see whether Valve has more stock. The status may keep fluctuating between “in stock” and “out of stock” for a while. Even so, it appears that the stock Valve set aside for launch day is running low, if it has not already disappeared completely, and players may need to wait until a new shipment of Steam Controller units is made available for purchase.
If you want one and missed the initial wave, there is one useful suggestion: add the missing amount for the controller directly to your Steam Wallet, because payment will be much faster if you pay from your Steam balance. So far, Valve has not commented on whether the controller has fully sold out or when new stock will be available. Gabe Newell’s team still has two more announced products, and due to the RAMpocalypse, they may only be getting more expensive, even though their official prices remain unknown. Those products are the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame.
