Where Winds Meet: The Imperial Palace Opens in the Game’s Largest Expansion Yet [VIDEO]

The game launched last fall and has now been out for six months. To celebrate this milestone, the developers have outlined what players can expect in the near future.

NetEase Games and Everstone Studio announced that the second major expansion for Where Winds Meet will open the Imperial Palace at the end of May. The studio has also promised numerous quality-of-life improvements to enhance the player experience worldwide. These updates were detailed in the latest episode of Goose News on the game’s official YouTube channel as the game approaches its six-month milestone in November and its one-year anniversary.

The palace will be a massive, one-million-square-meter royal courtyard and park comparable in size to the vast city of Kaifeng, according to NetEase and Everstone. Players will encounter over 3,000 NPCs with whom they can interact, uncover conspiracy theories, and meddle in royal court affairs. The expansion will also introduce a new estate system, a new companion system, and new Guantlet weapons.

Perhaps the most significant addition, aside from the Imperial Palace itself, is the introduction of two new game modes: The Martial Path Domain is a five-player cooperative PvE mode. In the new exploration mode, Ancient Tombs, players must descend into dark burial chambers, defeat enemies, and earn high-level loot. A new Panda cosmetic item will be available for a limited time starting May 19 to promote wildlife conservation.

“We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our global community for their continued and unwavering support. We solemnly commit to ensuring that every season delivers rich, solid, high-quality content. Our priority is to maintain a steady stream of updates so that the adventure never stalls. We will continue to listen to and act on your feedback to ensure that Jianghu remains a vibrant world that always rewards your time,” wrote Eric Zheng, the head of publishing at Where Winds Meet, in a press release.

However, let’s not forget that size doesn’t always matter.
