Stories That Pull You In: Action, Mystery, Big Comebacks, and Shared Experiences in One Place

MOVIE NEWS – The pace of everyday life rarely slows down: news, notifications, rush, and constant noise follow each other without pause. Relaxation no longer simply means watching something, but finding a story that genuinely carries us away. In the CANAL+ app, films, series, live TV, and sports meet in one place, so everyone can find their own rhythm – whether through a tense thriller, a character-driven drama, a sports broadcast, or a family program. The all-in-one experience is now expanding again with new stories and long-awaited returning titles.

One of the biggest new arrivals in the app is Memento Mori, whose first two seasons continue to expand week by week with new episodes, while season 3 is also coming soon. The series is not a simple crime story: an investigation into an especially intelligent and dangerous killer gradually turns into a psychological game, where every small detail matters. The strength of the story lies not only in the investigation, but also in the question of how thin the line can be between obsession and the search for truth. As the plot moves forward, the viewer is drawn deeper and deeper into the characters’ pasts and motivations.

DNA leads into a similarly tense world and is also arriving with new episodes. The series mixes classic crime elements with personal drama and family secrets. This is the kind of story where a single clue or decision can change entire lives, and where the past keeps returning again and again. Fans of action and military thrillers can look forward to Valiant One, which places viewers inside a tense survival story. After a routine mission, an American military unit becomes trapped in hostile territory: alongside classic action elements, the story also places strong emphasis on trust within the team, decisions made under pressure, and the psychological side of survival. The main cast includes Chase Stokes – known to many from Outer Banks – while Lana Condor also appears, a familiar face to younger viewers from several international productions.

From May 21, weekly new episodes will also bring Simple Case, a CANAL+ original series whose title already carries a quiet irony. Naturally, nothing is simple. The story gradually unfolds the relationships between the characters and the situations that first appear easy to understand, but later raise more and more questions. Killing Season is notable because two Hollywood heavyweights, Robert De Niro and John Travolta, appear together in leading roles for the first time. The story pits a reclusive veteran against a mysterious stranger, but their chance encounter quickly becomes a psychological and physical cat-and-mouse game burdened by personal wounds from the past. The lonely world of the mountains gradually turns into an ever-tighter battlefield, where survival and coming to terms with the past are both at stake.

The Last Face may appeal to viewers interested in humanitarian dramas set against the backdrop of war: the film stars Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem as two people trying to find human connection and moral anchors in the middle of a collapsing world. During May, the Creed, Creed II, and Creed III lineup also becomes complete in the app, creating the perfect opportunity for a proper film marathon. The series not only carries forward the legacy of the Rocky universe, but also reshapes it into a story for a new generation. Michael B. Jordan stars in the lead role, while Sylvester Stallone also plays an important part in the earlier installments. These films are not merely about boxing: they are about family, legacy, self-confidence, and the burden of living in the shadow of a famous name.

Fans of historical action can return to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which became a cult favorite thanks to its visual style and intense storytelling. Betrayals, gladiator battles, and power games make it one of the best-known historical series. For viewers who enjoy crime and historical series, The Widow Killer may be especially interesting: set during the tense final period of the Second World War, the story gives major political weight to the murder of a German general’s widow. The CANAL+ original series recently received a prestigious honor: at the 2026 German Television Crime Festival, it won the Crime Series of the Year award, while the jury specifically highlighted its sensitive and unusual treatment of its historical background, as well as its distinctive visual world.

One of the most watched films in the app right now is the superhero film Samaritan: at the center of the story is a young boy who suspects that the withdrawn man living next door may be a superhero who disappeared years earlier and was believed by everyone to be dead. Sylvester Stallone stars as a broken, hidden figure, while the story gradually reveals whether the age of heroes has truly ended, or whether it has only taken on a new form in the shadows of everyday life.

No Long Wait: New Arrivals Coming Soon

Several long-awaited titles are arriving in the coming period. The successful CANAL+ original series The Brigade returns, with a second season that promises to further deepen the stories of already familiar characters. Big Pete is also coming soon, in which legendary goalkeeper Petr Čech recalls his career and the less visible side of the football world through personal conversations. The result is not a simple sports program, but a collection of personal stories about what happens behind the glittering surface of sport.

Other upcoming titles include the series Vanished by the Lake and The Protégé, starring Samuel L. Jackson and Maggie Q. As summer approaches, new films and series will arrive in the CANAL+ app week by week, so favorite content will be available not only at home, but also while traveling or during holidays.

Sport Anywhere, When It Happens

Sports fans can look forward not only to Big Pete, but also to major sporting events in the coming period. As the football World Cup approaches, more and more football content is arriving, while the spring and summer sports season will also bring live broadcasts: international football qualifiers, selected Champions League matches, cycling Grand Tour events, and some tennis Grand Slam events will all be available in the live offering. One of the major advantages of the CANAL+ app is that sport is not tied to a single screen: key moments can be followed live while traveling, or even across multiple devices at the same time.

Children’s Day and Family Entertainment

At the end of May, family content also receives greater emphasis in connection with Children’s Day. The expanded selection of children’s channels available for catch-up viewing is good news as well, allowing favorite content to be watched not only at a fixed time – a practical benefit for families with young children whose everyday rhythm can often be hectic. The family selection continues to include well-known titles that can offer shared experiences for several generations again and again.

Documentaries, Nature Stories, and Attenborough 100

Crime Roads and Engineering Disasters show, through real stories, what consequences can follow from bad decisions or unexpected events. Sir David Attenborough, one of the world’s best-known nature filmmakers, recently celebrated his 100th birthday, and his programs present the planet’s wildlife and ecosystems in extraordinary detail. By browsing the BBC Earth and Love Nature nature channels, viewers can often connect with Attenborough’s way of thinking, as programs linked to his name regularly appear in the channel lineups and are also available in catch-up form.

There is also a wide selection of spectacular educational series in the video libraries: New Kids in the Wild, Amazing Animal Friends, and Icons of the Wild offer gentle, almost storybook-like relaxation for viewers who want to immerse themselves in the natural world, while Kingdom, Human, and Climate Change take audiences on more thought-provoking journeys. Films and series in abundance, sports events, popular live TV programs, and a constantly expanding video library – CANAL+ continues to gather in one place the stories worth starting.
