PS Plus In June Adds Three Games – But Sony’s Price Hike Still Hangs Over Everything

PlayStation Plus Essential members are getting three games in June: Grounded Fully Yoked Edition, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The lineup itself is solid, but after the recent PS Plus price increase and the removal of several catalog titles, Sony can hardly present this monthly batch as clean, uncomplicated good news.

Days of Play has arrived, and PlayStation has opened its festival of discounts, tournaments and extras by announcing the June lineup for PS Plus Essential. Sony has confirmed that subscribers will receive three titles in next month’s selection, while Extra and Premium members are also getting a separate surprise. The schedule follows the usual pattern: the games are not available immediately, so players will have to wait until early June before adding them to their libraries.

Three Games Are Coming To PS Plus Essential In June

According to the official PlayStation Blog, the three June PS Plus Essential games will be available from June 2 for all Essential subscribers and can be added to the library until July 6. The lineup is led by Grounded Fully Yoked Edition for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, followed by Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, also for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, and Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, which will be available only on PlayStation 5. It is a fairly varied package: a survival adventure, a cartoon crossover fighter and a grim cooperative action game all arrive at once.

Sony has also confirmed that EA Sports FC 26, one of the titles included in the May PS Plus selection, will remain available until June 16. That timing works particularly well with the 2026 World Cup, especially for players who want to play matches with friends. The other notable part of the announcement is aimed at Extra and Premium subscribers: Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025) will join the catalog on June 9, including The Final Shape expansion.

Destiny 2’s Arrival Is No Longer Just Good News

The arrival of Destiny 2: Legacy Collection (2025) initially looks like a strong offer for players who have been waiting for a better moment to enter Bungie’s space epic. Given its content, the package gives PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers a substantial amount of material, and the inclusion of The Final Shape makes the collection more valuable. However, the news also has a bitter edge, because the future of Destiny 2 now looks very different from the period when it still seemed to be Bungie’s long-term, constantly expanding flagship.

It has been confirmed that Destiny 2 will not receive further content updates, which may explain why the Legacy Collection is now being added to the higher PS Plus tiers. Bungie, meanwhile, is moving in a new direction, with much of the studio’s attention focused on Marathon and several projects still in the conceptual phase. That makes Destiny 2’s arrival in the catalog feel both like a generous offer and like the quiet closing of an era.

The PS Plus Price Increase Makes The June Lineup Harder To Celebrate

The June games announcement did not arrive in a vacuum, but in the middle of a tense period for the service. Sony first angered many players by increasing the price of the PlayStation 5, then followed that with a price increase for PS Plus itself. The initial communication focused mainly on the new cost of the Essential plan, but it later became clear that the increase also affected the Extra and Premium tiers. Unsurprisingly, many players did not interpret that as a simple business adjustment, but as another unpleasant signal from Sony.

The mood has also been hurt by the fact that several games are leaving the service, including Red Dead Redemption, even as Red Dead Redemption 2 recently joined the catalog. Sony’s strategy now looks contradictory: strong games are still being added, but subscribers are paying more for a service where popular titles can disappear at any time. The June Essential lineup is not weak on its own, but next to the price increase and the departing titles, it is difficult to treat it as if everything around PS Plus is fine.
