Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis Specs Hit Hard – RTX 3080 Is Only the Recommended Tier

The PC system requirements for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis have appeared unusually early, and the NVIDIA RTX 3080 / AMD RX 6800 XT listed under recommended specifications is not encouraging for mainstream GPU owners. The bigger problem is that Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios have not yet explained what resolution and frame rate these requirements are actually targeting.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is still far from release, but its PC system requirements are already visible on the game’s Steam page, which is earlier than publishers usually reveal this kind of information. Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Game Studios are at least not waiting until the final stretch to show the hardware targets, but the list is still rough news for players who are not using a higher-end GPU. That is not completely surprising, since the remake is powered by Unreal Engine 5, and modern UE5 releases have often come with heavier requirements, especially when developers build around upscaling from the start.

The minimum tier still looks relatively manageable, with an NVIDIA GTX 1070, RTX 2060 Super, or AMD RX 5700 listed. The recommended tier is where the warning sign appears: the game asks for an NVIDIA RTX 3080 or AMD RX 6800 XT, while both tiers require 16 GB of RAM and 80 GB of available storage. What the table does not say is just as important as what it does: there is no target resolution, no target frame rate, and no clear indication of whether these figures assume native rendering or upscaling.

Requirement Minimum Specifications Recommended Specifications
OS Windows 10/11 (64-bit) Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
Processor Intel Core i5-8600 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Intel Core i7-9700K / AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
Memory 16 GB RAM 16 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GTX 1070 (8GB) / RTX 2060 Super / AMD RX 5700 NVIDIA RTX 3080 / AMD RX 6800 XT
Storage 80 GB available space 80 GB available space

Without resolution and frame-rate targets, these requirements can only be interpreted cautiously. The minimum specifications likely point to 1080p on low settings at around 30 fps, while the recommended tier may target 1080p high settings at 60 fps or possibly 1440p. The situation becomes more complicated because Unreal Engine 5 games are often designed with NVIDIA DLSS or AMD FSR in mind, meaning the listed requirements may not refer to native resolution at all. That could create an awkward situation for owners of popular GPUs such as the RTX 4060 or RTX 5060, which are newer than the RTX 3080 but weaker in raw performance.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is a full remake of the first Tomb Raider, and it was originally expected within a 2026 release window. During the PlayStation State of Play, however, it was confirmed that the game will now launch on February 12, 2027, likely to avoid not only the noise around Grand Theft Auto 6, but also the AAA pile-up that September has become. Since release is still distant, there is a strong chance the PC requirements will be clarified in the coming months, ideally with resolution, settings, frame-rate, and upscaling targets. For now, though, the recommended line is already blunt enough: Lara Croft’s rebuilt Atlantean expedition may hit mainstream PCs harder than many expected.
