HANDHELD NEWS – Sadly, the days of getting a powerful handheld PC for a three-digit sum in U.S. dollars appear to be over.
Popular handheld PC and eGPU manufacturer OneXPlayer has unveiled its first gaming device equipped with an Intel Arc G3 Extreme APU, the OneXPlayer 3. The company has consistently built its handheld PCs around AMD’s most powerful SoCs, including Strix Point and Strix Halo chips, but it has now moved to an Intel Panther Lake variant, resulting in its most powerful Intel-based handheld to date.
The OneXPlayer 3 features a 14-core Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip with Arc B390 integrated graphics. It is one of the most powerful SoCs for gaming without a discrete GPU and is rapidly gaining traction on the market. The OneXPlayer 3 is already available on Indiegogo with an innovative modular ecosystem that enables the device to transform between different types of machines.
In addition to its traditional handheld design, the OneXPlayer 3 can be turned into a tablet, laptop, or PC. This enables users to switch between gaming and work, making it a multipurpose device. The Intel Arc G3 Extreme delivers up to 46 TOPS of AI performance and comes with an 8.8-inch, or 22.352-centimeter, AMOLED display with a 144 Hz variable refresh rate and HDR support.
The device can operate at up to 35W in full-power mode and includes an advanced cooling solution designed to dissipate heat quickly. It is equipped with an 85 Wh battery that provides several hours of operation and competes with modern handheld PCs from other manufacturers.
The handheld’s crowdfunding price starts at $1,400 and goes up to $1,700 depending on configuration. The version with 24 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage costs $1,400, the 24 GB RAM and 1 TB storage edition costs $1,500, and the model equipped with 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage costs $1,700. The significant difference between the prices is due to higher RAM and storage costs, which is why MSI also launched the Claw 8 EX AI+ for $1,700. The OneXPlayer 3 early-bird offer includes a controller dock, a magnetic keyboard, and a protective case.
