[GC 2026] Final Fantasy VII Revelation: The Planet’s Crisis [VIDEO]

Many games were unveiled during Gamescom Opening Night Live, and we will be covering them today and tomorrow. First up is the second official trailer for the final installment of the Final Fantasy VII Remake project.

The trailer features enormous guardians called Weapons who emerge to defend a world in crisis. Making no distinction between friend and foe, the Weapons wreak catastrophic destruction upon the planet and its people. In desert sands, mid-air dogfights, and the depths of the sea, Cloud and his fellow heroes must stand against the colossal Weapons, all while trying to save the world from Sephiroth. Originally a late-game element of Final Fantasy VII, the Weapons return in reimagined glory as standout battles in Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. Some of these battles are ultra-challenging endgame battles, paying homage to the original forms of the Weapons. The Gamescom trailer also showcased the powerful new summon Typhon, as well as open-world exploration via parachute, grappling hook, and chocobo mounts. It also showed Cloud and Tifa in their warrior and black mage FITS. New to Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the FITS system introduces unique outfits that bestow new abilities and greater power. These outfits have specialized roles that evoke classic Final Fantasy jobs.

In Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, Cloud Strife and his loyal companions face a world teetering on the brink of annihilation. Grieving the loss of a beloved ally and facing the prospect of their nemesis, Sephiroth, ascending to godhood, the party takes to the skies aboard the airship Highwind. They embark on a race against time to stop Meteor, the ultimate destructive magic, and prevent the total obliteration of the planet. The final battle has begun. Everything leads here. Final Fantasy VII: Revelation delivers an unforgettable and breathtaking finale to one of the most ambitious video game projects in history, as well as the culmination of 30 years of Final Fantasy VII storytelling.

The entire planet is freely explorable in the game via the Highwind airship. Players can parachute down anywhere and seamlessly transition from air to land. With the Meteor descending and the Weapons unleashing terror, the planet’s conflicts are numerous, and the party must divide and conquer. Choose where to go, who to help, and the order in which to do so, as the planet itself fights for survival. Make a final stand alongside a cast of beloved, legendary heroes and make decisions along the way that can affect their stories. Customize combat by switching between real-time action and Tactical Mode in the acclaimed hybrid battle system of the series, which has been expanded and perfected with new playable characters and powerful new abilities.

Both newcomers and fans can catch up on the series before Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth arrives by playing the first two entries: Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth. They are currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Players can take advantage of the streamlined progression feature in both titles, which offers options such as unlimited HP and MP, a full ATB gauge, and easier acquisition of weapon abilities to customize the gameplay experience. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth have both received massive critical acclaim, including multiple nominations and awards from The Game Awards, over 140 perfect review scores, and numerous Game of the Year accolades.

Players with save data from Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade or Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on their console or PC will unlock special bonuses in Final Fantasy VII Revelation: the Chocobo and Moogle Summon Materia in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and the Phoenix Summon Materia in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is coming next spring to the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
