Bloober Team has confirmed that Cronos: The New Dawn reached its break-even point nine months after launch and is now generating profit. The Polish studio says the survival horror game exceeded its internal expectations, while the upcoming Cronos: Lazarus DLC could improve its results even further. With several major projects running at the same time, Bloober says its unusually structured development model is what makes that pace possible.
There has been plenty of discussion about how many projects Bloober Team is handling at the same time. The Polish studio is not only working on a Silent Hill remake, but also has SAW: Origins, Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, and Netflix’s latest horror game among its active projects. At the same time, surprisingly little had been said about the team’s latest major release, Cronos: The New Dawn, making it easy to assume that the game had not performed well commercially. The truth, however, appears to be the exact opposite.
Cronos: The New Dawn launched in the summer of 2025 with a relatively clear ambition: to take the kind of survival horror associated with Dead Space and move it into the psychological horror territory that Bloober Team knows especially well. Time travel, a straightforward but engaging story, and a distinct atmosphere all suggested that the game could find an audience, but it took nearly a year for its actual financial performance to become clear.
Piotr Babieno, CEO of Bloober Team, stated in the company’s financial report that Cronos: The New Dawn exceeded internal expectations. He said the studio had expected this outcome because of the positive response from both critics and players, which makes sense given that the game reached a Metacritic score of 77 based on media reviews and also performed particularly well in user reviews.
Babieno also revealed why there has been so little news about the project in recent months: the game only became profitable fairly recently. Although Bloober Team publishes and distributes the title itself, a game can sometimes take a significant amount of time to recoup its investment. “We managed to reach the break-even point with Cronos in nine months. The current market is one of the most challenging, but we managed to lay the groundwork for something with the potential to become one of the key IPs in our portfolio.”
Bloober Team’s First DLC Could Push Cronos Profits Even Higher
The studio head also pointed out that, now the project has reached break-even, every additional dollar or euro earned can effectively become net profit for Bloober Team. That means the game’s DLC could give the title’s revenue a significant boost. “Later this year, we will release the first DLC in Bloober Team’s history: Cronos: Lazarus. This debut, for obvious reasons, should have a positive impact on the total sales of Cronos: The New Dawn,” Babieno concluded.
But how can one studio handle so much at once? Bloober Team is not a small operation, with around 250 employees, but Cronos: The New Dawn director Wojciech Piejko previously explained to 3DJuegos that the company divides itself into two smaller teams. While one team is actively developing a game, the other is already working on pre-production for the next project. Once the first team completes development and enters the additional polishing period, some of its members can move over to support colleagues still working in the early stages. The two leadership teams also share advice, operational resources, and experience based on what each project needs, allowing the studio to keep so many productions moving at the same time.
