Funcom will soon bring Dune: Awakening to Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation hardware, and after all this anticipation, we may finally get a high-quality console port.
Funcom has released a new Deep Dive video for its open-world survival game ahead of the upcoming console launch and announced that a physical edition of the game will be available for PlayStation 5. Solutions 2 Go will distribute the physical edition in North and South America, while Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe will handle Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Pre-orders are now available. A retail release is also planned for Japan in October, but the distributor will be announced later.
The PlayStation 5 Standard Edition will also be available in physical format. For a limited time, it includes the exclusive Terrarium of Muad’Dib, which can be placed in a player base, along with a global color palette. The base game, Deluxe Edition, and Ultimate Edition will be available digitally on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. Players who pre-order any edition will receive the Terrarium of Muad’Dib and the global color palette, while pre-ordering the Deluxe or Ultimate Editions also grants five days of early access. The Deluxe and Ultimate Editions include downloadable content, armor, and building components.
The console versions will offer the same experience as the PC version, with controls and a user interface optimized for consoles. The target is 60 FPS on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X when using Performance Mode. The full game can now be played entirely in single-player mode with scalable difficulty and a wide range of customizable gameplay settings.
Experience the grand finale of Book One, which delivers a dramatic conclusion to Dune: Awakening’s cinematic storyline. Play through the adventure from beginning to end. Adjust everything to suit your preferences, from harvesting rates and experience gain to combat difficulty. In single-player mode and on private servers, you are in control and can shape the game entirely according to your own rules.
New PC and console players will also enjoy all the expansions and improvements that have become available since the PC release. These include fully optional player-versus-player combat, an expanded endgame, new locations and missions, and countless further improvements that make the experience even better.
At its core, Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival game in which exploration, combat, crafting, and building allow players to rise from mere survival to greatness. However, it offers much more than that: an epic cinematic story, adventure and RPG mechanics, and multiple ways to play, whether in single-player mode, on private or self-hosted servers with friends, or in the large-scale multiplayer experience available through official servers. Which path you choose is entirely up to you.
“September 22 is more than just releasing the game on consoles. It’s a major milestone for us: the second launch of Dune: Awakening on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. For over a year, we have been expanding and enhancing Dune: Awakening on PC, and all of these additions, as well as several new ones, will be available on all platforms on day one. This is the best version of Dune: Awakening yet, and we’re excited to open it up to a much larger audience across different platforms. Teaming up with strong partners around the world to put it on shelves everywhere is another great way for us to bring more survivors to the dangerous sands of Arrakis.” Funcom CEO Rui Casais said in a press release.
