Vin Diesel Confirms His Biggest Franchise Is Finally Entering Its Last Lap

MOVIE NEWS – Vin Diesel has confirmed in an Instagram video from the set that production on Fast Forever is officially underway. The film will bring the main Fast & Furious saga to an end when it reaches theaters in March 2028.

Vin Diesel has been one of Hollywood’s most recognizable action stars for years, largely because of his work in major franchises. He most recently concluded his nine-year run as the voice of Groot with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2023, while he is also set to return as Richard B. Riddick in Riddick: Furya, which is currently in post-production.

His longest-running and most defining franchise remains Fast & Furious. Following Fast X in 2023, the next chapter was officially confirmed in January 2026 before receiving the title Fast Forever and being positioned as the final film in the main franchise. Story details remain under wraps, but Dom Toretto’s saga is now heading toward its conclusion nearly three decades after The Fast and the Furious first arrived in 2001.

Vin Diesel Has Already Sent a Message to Fans From the Set

Vin Diesel has confirmed in an Instagram video that Fast Forever is now officially in production. The brief footage offers a small look at the ongoing shoot, including Dom’s classic black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. Diesel thanked the audience for its patience and support as he returned to work on what he called an “amazing finale.”

“I just wanted to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world, best fans in the world. You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me over the past three and a half years we’ve been grinding to try and make the most amazing finale.”

Diesel later returned to his message for the fans: “One thing I know is that I can feel your support. And that means the world to me. So let me get back to this filming. And just know I hope to make you all proud.” It is not yet known how long production will last, while Universal has not revealed official story information or a complete cast list.

Dom’s Family May Return, but Fast X Left Major Questions Behind

The final chapter is expected to feature the return of actors including Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Sung Kang and John Cena, all of whom have appeared in multiple Fast & Furious films over the last two decades. Fast X also set up the return of two major characters absent from the saga for years: Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Gal Gadot’s Gisele Yashar.

Several major plot threads remain unresolved. By the end of the last film, Alan Ritchson’s Aimes had been revealed as a double agent working with Dante Reyes after taking control of the Agency following Mr. Nobody’s disappearance. Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes then trapped Dom and his son at a dam in Portugal before setting off a massive explosion, leaving their fate uncertain. Fast Forever will have to explain how Dom and his extended family manage to put everything right.

Fast Forever is currently in production and will arrive in theaters on March 17, 2028.
