Even Take-Two was surprised by how well the new Mafia performed, especially since it was not a full-price title at launch.
The company has now revealed the first details about the Mafia: The Old Country story DLC, Man of Honor, which is set to be released on August 14 for $10. Set in the winter of 1905, just a few months after protagonist Enzo Favara was accepted into the Torrisi crime family, the DLC will take players back to Enzo’s story and expand the Free Ride mode with new content. According to the developers, the expansion introduces new story chapters set during Enzo’s early days as a soldato. These chapters are currently under wraps, but players who own the DLC can access them through the main campaign once they have progressed far enough in the game or can dive right in after meeting the necessary story prerequisites.
A key element of the expansion is the return of Ennio Salieri, who appears here before becoming the don of his own crime family in the original Mafia game. In Man of Honor, Salieri runs his operations from a warehouse in Porto Almaró, assigning new tasks to Enzo through challenge-based content and missions. These can be divided into five types: standoffs, assassinations, circuit races, street sprints, and time trials. According to the development team, these are based on the existing Free Ride challenge structure but have been adjusted to a higher difficulty level.
In Free Ride mode, Salieri offers individual contracts, or Jobs. Examples include breaking into a citrus orchard, eliminating rival whiskey smugglers, stealing a truck, engaging in firefights, and making a getaway in high-value cars while fending off thieves. The missions are generally described as dirty jobs involving cracking safes, stealing valuable cars, and transporting stolen goods before rival smugglers can intercept them. The DLC also adds optional activities and collectibles to the Valle Dorata area, such as wanted posters, stunt jumps, and sulfur-carrying trucks that players can destroy as part of the new content.
Additionally, Man of Honor introduces new items that can be purchased with in-game dinars or discovered while exploring. These include three weapons – the Modello Speciale, a high-capacity pump-action shotgun, and the Precisione Speciale – as well as three knives, five talismans, three vehicles, two horses, three outfits, and five hats. The high-capacity pump-action shotgun holds ten rounds, the Precisione Speciale can fire explosive rounds, the Rimbalzu is a throwing knife that can bounce to a second target, and the Dolce Morte talisman causes defeated enemies to occasionally drop reward fruits that restore health and grant extra dinars.
