Remedy Is Still Keeping Quiet about the Max Payne 1+2 Remake!

The Finnish studio is remaining tight-lipped about the remakes of the two games, with Rockstar set to take charge of the marketing campaign.

As well as developing Control Resonant, which will introduce action-game elements similar to those in Devil May Cry and mark a significant turning point in the series’ history, Remedy Entertainment is working on remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 for Rockstar Games. In its financial report, the Finnish developer confirmed that the project is moving ahead at full steam, but did not reveal any further details on its current progress. We may not hear much more about it for a few months, as the ball is clearly in Rockstar Games’ court.

According to a Rockstar Intel report, during the Q&A session following the release of the financial report, Remedy’s investor relations manager Aapo Kilpinen confirmed that Rockstar Games is handling the publishing duties. This means that the Finnish developer was unable to answer the numerous questions asked about the highly anticipated remakes. As Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to dominate gaming discourse and players’ living rooms for a long time, Rockstar Games is unlikely to take any steps that would divert attention. However, any news regarding the remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 is also unlikely to distract from what will undoubtedly be one of the most popular games ever released.

While the lack of information about the Max Payne remakes is becoming frustrating, there is no cause for concern yet. Assuming development proceeds smoothly, we can expect a release in 2027, since the game entered full development in 2024. Considering that Rockstar Games generally prefers shorter marketing windows, it wouldn’t be surprising if the game were unveiled just a few months before its release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.

Could the reveal be happening at The Game Awards?
