Is Moon Studios Already Working on the Third Ori Game?

According to a rumor, the Ori franchise is set to expand further. Since it has become one of Xbox’s most beloved indie properties, this was to be expected.

The Ori series is now widely acclaimed and has become one of Xbox’s most popular franchises. Although the team behind the games experienced a turbulent period, they achieved great success with No Rest for the Wicked. Meanwhile, fans continue to hope for more Ori games. According to a new rumor, Ori 3 is already in development. NateTheHate, a reliable insider, claims that the new Ori game is in development. The leaker speculated that the game could be announced at this year’s Gamescom but is unsure if that will happen.

Meanwhile, recent rumors have hinted at a significant Xbox announcement, sparking speculation that it could be Ori 3. Of course, Moon Studios is currently busy with No Rest for the Wicked. Thomas Mahler, the studio’s CEO, responded to the rumors by hinting that Moon Studios might not be involved in the project. Mahler also suggested that the team intends to buy back the intellectual property rights. In any case, fans have welcomed the prospect of more Ori games. It remains to be seen whether Xbox will reveal this potential announcement at Gamescom 2026.

Ori and the Blind Forest was released on March 11, 2015, for Xbox One and PC. The Definitive Edition followed on March 11, 2016, for Xbox One (the PC port arrived on April 27). Then, on September 27, 2019, it was released for the Nintendo Switch. The sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, was released on March 11, 2020, for Xbox One and PC. It was released for the Nintendo Switch on September 17 and for the Xbox Series on November 10. Given this track record, the release of a new sequel would make sense.
