The creators of Dying Light 2: Renaissance want to rebuild Techland’s original vision that never reached the final game. The fan project promises a new open world, quests, meaningful choices and the cut Elyseum region.
Techland improved and expanded Dying Light 2 Stay Human through numerous updates after its 2022 launch, but several ideas shown in early demonstrations still never returned. The Breach, update 1.28 released in June 2026, opened the door much wider for user-generated content.
BGA Game Studios is using those tools to create two parallel projects. Dying Light 2: Renaissance aims to reinterpret the original concept, while The Outcast is building a separate story and experience on the same foundation.
Renaissance is not merely restoring a discarded map. Its developers plan interconnected districts, main and side quests, decisions with consequences, extensive vertical exploration, and reworked melee combat, survival systems and parkour.
The return of Elyseum may be its biggest attraction. Techland showed the district before release but removed it from the final game. The mod has no launch date yet, and its creators stress that the project is independent and not affiliated with Techland.
