The Blood of Dawnwalker Drops 60 FPS on Consoles – Two Modes Remain

The console versions of The Blood of Dawnwalker will not offer a 60 FPS mode at launch, leaving players to choose between 30 and 40 frames per second. Rebel Wolves has shown the game running on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X, but it has yet to reveal targets for Xbox Series S.

Rebel Wolves, the studio led by former The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, is now preparing its dark-fantasy RPG for a September 3 launch. Its latest technical showcase clarifies what console players can expect, although the announced performance targets fall short of what part of the audience had hoped to see.

PlayStation 5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X will each offer two graphics presets. Quality mode targets 30 FPS at a dynamic 4K resolution, while Balanced mode keeps the same dynamic resolution target and raises the frame rate to 40 FPS.

PS5 Pro will not receive a higher frame-rate target either: it will still aim for 30 or 40 FPS, with Rebel Wolves instead promising enhanced visual quality in both modes. That means the 60 FPS performance option many players now expect will be absent from every console version shown so far at launch.

The studio has not promised a later 60 FPS patch, so an upgrade should not be treated as guaranteed. Still, games such as Starfield, A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 added faster console modes after release, leaving open the possibility that further optimization could eventually change the situation.

Rebel Wolves has not yet disclosed performance or resolution targets for Xbox Series S, which makes the smaller console the biggest remaining question. PC players are not directly affected by these console-mode limitations, though they should still compare their hardware with the game’s published system requirements.
