Nintendo removed 401 GitHub repositories connected to Switch emulators through DMCA notices in a single day. The company’s latest wave targeted code related to Suyu, Skyline, MonoNX and several derivative projects.

Nintendo’s campaign against piracy has entered another highly visible round. The Japanese company filed seven separate DMCA requests with GitHub, and 401 repositories became unavailable on the same day as a result.

Of the removed projects, 311 contained or were based on Suyu code. Suyu emerged as one of the successors to Yuzu after that emulator came under legal pressure, but Nintendo is now also pursuing forks and copies that carried its technology forward.

The notices also affected the Android emulator Skyline, the C#-based MonoNX and multiple derivatives containing Suyu components. GitHub now displays a takedown notice referencing the copyright claim where the repositories used to be available.

Nintendo argues that these tools bypass the Switch’s technological protection measures and make it easier to run illegally obtained games. The dispute surrounding emulation will not end here, but the disappearance of 401 repositories shows the extraordinary scale of the company’s continuing legal offensive.
