Helldivers 2 Boss Is Glad GTA VI Is Skipping PC at Launch – for a Selfish Reason

Arrowhead’s CEO is openly pleased that GTA VI will not launch on PC immediately and will arrive without an online mode. Shams Jorjani believes that this gives Helldivers 2 valuable time and room to remain dominant among its own audience.

The November 19 launch of Grand Theft Auto VI is already reshaping the industry’s release calendar, but Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO does not expect it to erase the Helldivers 2 community overnight. The main reason is that Rockstar’s game will initially launch only on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, without a dedicated online mode.

Speaking to IGN during Gamescom 2026, Shams Jorjani said that he admired Rockstar’s production values while also feeling relieved about the delayed PC version. Helldivers 2 is available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, but it has an especially strong community on Steam.

On a selfish note, I’m glad it isn’t coming to PC immediately and that online isn’t there at launch.

Jorjani argues that the situation will prevent GTA VI from becoming an all-consuming force on the platform where Arrowhead’s game is strongest. The advantage may only be temporary, however, because Rockstar’s previous strategy suggests that a PC edition will eventually follow.

The Arrowhead executive also highlighted Rockstar’s unusual brand power. While many developers constantly change direction and react to early feedback simply to survive, Rockstar can spend a decade refining a single project with confidence in its established formula.

Helldivers 2 will not remain completely untouched by the arrival of GTA VI, but the launch platforms and absence of an online component could soften the initial impact. Jorjani still expects Rockstar’s new title to raise the bar for the entire industry.
