Keeper: Double Fine’s Game Has Unexpectedly Landed on PlayStation 5! [VIDEO]

After the game’s trophies were leaked, Double Fine Productions, led by Tim Schafer, announced that its third-person, puzzle-adventure game is now available on Sony’s console.

Created by Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions, the makers of Stacking, Headlander, RAD, and Psychonauts, Keeper is a beautiful, surreal, atmospheric third-person puzzle adventure with a wordless story. On an island in a long-lost sea, a forgotten lighthouse stands dormant in the shadow of a distant mountain peak. As withering tendrils spread and coalesce, the lighthouse awakens. Taken with a mysterious sense of purpose and joined by a spirited seabird, the lighthouse embarks on a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis, and an unexpected journey toward the center of the island and into realms beyond understanding. Keeper is a story told without words: a heartening tale of unlikely companionship; an unexpected journey into realms beyond understanding; a beautiful, otherworldly adventure; and an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis.

Keeper was first released on Xbox Series and PC on October 17, 2025. The PlayStation 5 port was released independently after Double Fine broke free from Xbox Game Studios. Previously, we reported that the studio had to resort to layoffs to survive. We saw something similar at Compulsion Games. We also wrote about how that studio is looking for new work to stay afloat.

Hopefully, Keeper will generate decent sales on Sony’s current-gen console, as this is crucial for Double Fine’s long-term survival. If sales are decent, the studio will generate enough revenue from its games to begin developing future projects. After all, Double Fine has now regained all its rights from Xbox Game Studios, which was the bare minimum Microsoft could do given that it chose to let some of its studios go their own way rather than shut them down.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
