Darrell Gallagher, who was leading Crystal Dynamics for a decade, suddenly left the company that’s responsible for the new Tomb Raider games. He had another position, too: he was responsible for the Western developments of Square Enix-published titles. His replacements were also announced: his role will be taken over by Scot Amos and Ron Rosenberg – they were the „acting” leaders in the past few months. Square Enix considers this change as a seamless transition.
The Western CEO of Square Enix Phil Rogers thanked Darrell Gallagher for his enormous work in the past decade. After all, he was a key head behind reviving Tomb Raider after the horrible 2003 game Angel of Darkness. That failure ended up with Core losing the license, which got moved to Crystal Dynamics. And – as they say – the rest is history.
It’s worth mentioning that there wasn’t a lot of Western developed Square Enix games in 2015: on consoles, we got Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Life is Strange. On mobile, we got Lara Croft Go.
