Ubisoft enters VR, But Not with A Game!

During AMD’s GDC program, Ubisoft‘s latest plan was announced – it was expected to happen, though. The French publisher tries to expand towards virtual reality, although not in the way we expected them to do so!

The Assassin’s Creed-themed VR experience is going to be a collaboration between Ubisoft, Fox, and Practical Magic – the latter company is experienced in visual effects. The VR-experience will be based on the movie’s story. Therefore, we can expect this to show up in 2017 as the film will launch on December 21.

It’s confirmed not to be a game – the scenes were recorded in parallel with the movie at Malta, Spain and in the United Kingdom. Practical Magic isn’t a widely known company, however. Practical Magic has only one confirmed employee (Bud Myrick – he previously worked on X-Men 2 and Man in Black 2).

We can’t wait to hear more details about this project. Ubisoft seems to escape ahead from Vivendi by diving more into other things outside games; the second Assassin’s Creed movie is in production already…

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
