Watch Dogs‘ sequel got a few new details unveiled over on the PlayStation Blog.
Watch Dogs 2, which moves the location from Chicago to San Fransisco, also has a new protagonist: instead of Aiden Pearce, we will take control of Marcus Holloway in the autumn. The game’s director, Danny Bélanger said the following: „We hope you’ll feel that Watch Dogs 2 is new and different when you get your hands on it. We know that having a sequel that feels too much like the first game can be disappointing, so we took a lot of risks and made some pretty big changes. Whereas the first Watch Dogs was all about surveillance, this time, we’re focusing on „Big Data” – social media, search engines, and so forth. We’re taking these technologies, looking at them, and asking what the risks are, what can happen, what could a hacker do?”
Our arsenal will also expand. We’ll get a 3D printer to make firearms, as well as our drones. We’ll also get the ability to hack into everything that is connected to the network. No wonder that the E3 trailer was called „Hack Everything.” We can get to the end of the game without using deadly force, as we will get the freedom to play the game as we want. Belanger says there will be three playstyles: „The combat hacker is more proactive and uses hacks to take down people. There’s the ghost hacker: they can use hacks to distract and make noises. And then there’s the trickster hacker. They can finish a whole mission without actually physically being there.”
Hopefully, Ubisoft will give their all for the sequel that launches on November 15 on PS4, X1, and PC.
