A UK Retail Store Charges People For Trying Out The PlayStation VR!

GAME, a UK game retail store chain managed to piss its audience off with its latest move, and not in a good way, either…

„Thinking about purchasing [a] PlayStation VR? Come and try it in store today! £5 for 10 minutes or £15 for 30 minutes!” – the tweet says. You read that correctly, 15 pounds for half an hour of VR experiences. It seems like a bad move.

The Twitter users under another GAME account’s tweet got replies such as „is it a joke?”, „Shame on you,” or „charging just to try it? What a bunch of a**holes.” Wait, the story is not over just yet!

Eurogamer details other rules and limitation about this paid demo:

  • Remain seated at all times and until headset is removed;
  • close eyes and raise your hand if you become uncomfortable and want to stop the demo;
  • remain calm and minimise erratic head and limb movements;
  • stop moving if GAME staff place a hand on your shoulder; and
  • not touch, remove or interfere with the headset or connected equipment except as directed by GAME staff.

The only positive thing about the demo is that if you end up buying a PlayStation VR immediately after ending the demo and paying right there, the cost of the demo will be deducted from the price. Still, it feels like an aggressive move on GAME’s end – can’t you try the device for free elsewhere?

Also, what does PlayStation UK think about this altogether?!
