The technology evolves, and older hardware mostly ends up packed up in some boxes.
Last time, Nintendo’s Wii U ended production earlier this year, and soon, one of its rivals will also follow it into the grave, as the Japanese PlayStation site mentions that the PlayStation 3‘s production in Japan will come to its end. The site talks about the basic 500-gigabyte model, the only remaining version of PS3 available in Japan. Mind you; many PlayStation 4 games made in Japan got PS3 ports, explaining how it was alive for so long. It also says that shipments are scheduled to end soon.
A Japanese console store’s tweet says that production will be ending in March. With this event, we can say that the console, which launched in November 2006, will bid adieu shortly.
