Microsoft goes further than the Xbox 360.
With this move, Microsoft wants to go against Sony’s decisions regarding PlayStation 2 titles. You just cannot plonk in a disc into your console and play said title. Instead, you have to buy the game again, and the supported games might not even include your favorite on PS4. (And Jim Ryan’s comments weren’t promising, either.)
Later this year, original Xbox titles will be added to the Xbox One‘s backward compatibility. The first game is confirmed to be Crimson: Skies: High Road to Revenge, developed by FASA (MechCommander, MechWarrior, and 2007’s Shadowrun) in 2003. Microsoft says the OG Xbox games will look and play better on Xbox One than on the previous consoles.
It’s Sony’s turn to react.
