Ghost Of Tsushima: Why Was It Announced Just Recently?

Sucker Punch‘ new game has been in development for a while… but why did it take much time to get announced?

The studio’s most recent game was InFamous First Light in 2014, but the next one, Ghost of Tsushima, was announced a month ago at Paris Games Week. Michael Denny, Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios’ senior vice president, told GameSpot why the somewhat late announcement happened.

„Yeah, that’s a strange one to me. I think the right thing to do…and I think we’re learning and a lot of publishers are learning … there is a right time to announce games. In the past, I think it’s fair to say sometimes we announced games too early, and this is such a great project for Sucker Punch. It’s a game they’ve always really wanted to make themselves, and I think it’s the right time to announce that, and they’ve been working on that game for a long time now. There is great [playable version of the game] already. So we’re just excited to let everybody know about it.”

They just waited until the game was in a playable state, which avoided the previous mistake of announcing titles too early. Ghost of Tsushima has no release date yet, but it seems like this PlayStation 4-exclusive is going to be one of the last AAA developments for the console, with a possible 2019 release date.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
