Supermassive Games, who had a lot of success three years ago with the PlayStation 4-exclusive Until Dawn, is up to something.
The ResetEra forums figured out that the developers have trademarked Shattered State at EUIPO, the European Intellectual Property Office. However, there’s a twist in Shattered State‘s story.
Until Dawn’s IP is owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Shattered State isn’t! It’s in the hands of the devs themselves, which means the game doesn’t have to be a PlayStation 4-exclusive (or a PlayStation VR-exclusive, who knows?)! In the decade-long history of Supermassive Games, a similar situation only occurred twice: in 2010 (Big Match Striker, PC), and in 2012 (Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, PC, and PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita). Neither games’ IP was owned by Sony.
We’ll find out shortly what Supermassive Games‘ plans are…
