AMD will offer a helping hand for the next PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, talked with CNBC: „We’re working with both Sony and Microsoft on consoles. They both have their specific secret sauce that we’re helping them do. People need more computing horsepower. Just think about gaming these days; double-digit growth. Whether you’re talking about game consoles or you’re talking about PC gaming, or you’re talking about cloud gaming, all of these markets like higher computing power. And that’s a great place for us to be.”
Su also said that AMD has invested into technology that won’t be seen by people for a few years – it might be a reference to Sony’s and Microsoft’s new console (or, with the case of Redmond, consoles), but none were mentioned by name.
So, Sony and Microsoft both have a different approach to get the attention of the gamers for the next console generation. We don’t see what these could be yet. Maybe we’ll see it in a year…
