Going by a tweet, this crossover between the two franchises could happen.
We have seen several guest characters in the previous two instalments of Mortal Kombat, as NetherRealm likes to do that. (Mortal Kombat on the PS3 had Kratos, and Mortal Kombat X had Predator for example.) Mortal Kombat 11 could follow this tradition if we can believe Hideki Kamiya, the creator of Bayonetta.
The Japanese developer has written the following: „Mortal Kombat × Bayonetta,” which caused the creative minds to connect the dots together. Cereza (as this is the witch’s real name!) already had a guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but it looks like the witch might take a trip to Mortal Kombat 11 as well. However, we’re not sure which platforms could she appear on, as SEGA owns the rights of the IP, but it was Nintendo who funded Bayonetta 2’s development to be Wii U-exclusive (it got a Switch port since then), and the third game is also exclusive to the Switch. (Sure, we saw a port of the first game to the PC, but that was initially multiplatform on PS3 and X360…)
Mortal Kombat 11 is out on April 23 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Bayonetta – if Kamiya isn’t just openly thinking about possibilities – could become a Switch-exclusive DLC in the future. We’re just guessing, though…
