What Do We Know About The Avengers Project? [VIDEO]

The game is pretty mysterious, even though we have first heard about it in January 2017 – it’s in development, but what do we know about it aside from potentially using the Games-as-a-Service (GaaS) model?

The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics, which is possibly why they haven’t worked a lot on Shadow of the Tomb Raider by passing the torch over to Eidos Montreal after working on the first two titles in the reboot trilogy. (Let’s kist say that Square Enix wants to make good use of the Marvel-license agreement they have stricken with Disney…)

In September 2017, we saw two job listings on the NeoGAF forums. One of them was for a lead level designer, who would make „fun and unique online experiences involving two essential factors, the social and the gameplay sharing.” The Avengers Project could be played solo, too. The other job listing was for a combat designer, who would „work with the lead designer to plan, prototype, and build combat systems that apply directly to a third-person adventure game.”

They are looking for a narrative designer, who would help Crystal Dynamics to create „memorable, emotional and cinematographic experiences.” This person would also have to design „an emotional game experience that remains consistent with the creative vision of the game” as well. We have to point out that Avengers is not mentioned anywhere, but what else could be Crystal Dynamics making at this point? Shadow of the Tomb Raider isn’t a thing anymore, and that doesn’t require the entire team!

So the Avengers Project could be a third-person action game (action-adventure? shooter?), and since we’re getting quite close to the next console generation, we wouldn’t rule out that it would skip the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One in favour of the next-gen PlayStation (PlayStation 5?) and Xbox (Xbox Anaconda?). Square Enix might even publish it as a launch title. It might even be mentioned during this year’s E3.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
