We have also learned what Randy Pitchford, the head of Gearbox Software, as well as Borderlands’ official Twitter account was hyping so much…
Let’s start with the weapon collecting. The Vault Insider Program would give you new information about Borderlands 3, and it basically wants you to gravitate towards the social media pages. You can create a Gearbox Shift account, and you can tie your Steam, Twitch, and other accounts to it, too. You get points for visiting the Twitter, Facebook or Instagram pages of Borderlands 2, and you get even more for watching the promo video. If you read the Vault Insider Program, you also don’t leave empty-handed. It’s nothing more than a marketing move by Gearbox and Take-Two’s 2K.
If you sign up, you get a Borderlands 3 Welcome Pack that contains rare grenade and shield mods – they’ll be yours if you fire the game up. With the points, you can go for a bit of gambling with the Weaponizer, which gives a random gun for either Borderlands 3, Borderlands 2, or its latest (and free) DLC, Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary. You can also outright acquire a few guns with the points. After claiming eight rewards, you’ll get a legendary Maliwan gun for Borderlands 3.
And what was the thing that was oh so hyped for yesterday? Oh, it’s nothing more than a cinematic trailer called So Happy Together, which is named after The Turtles’ song, used in the video as well. All that hype for nothing.
Borderlands 3, which will have no cross-play at launch (we discussed it yesterday) will be available from September 13 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The PC port will be an Epic Games Store-exclusive title. There’s also a Google Stadia port coming at a later date.
