Resident Evil 3 Remake, which launched over a week ago, might not expand further.

Resident Evil 3 Remake was not as „meaty” as the remade version of Resident Evil 2. (Perhaps that’s why Capcom has added the 4v1 multiplayer, Resident Evil Resistance.) And the status quo might not change – AestheticGamer, who has shown up in the news more often than we held a doorknob recently, wrote the following on Twitter: „Everyone keeps on asking me about Resident Evil 3 [Remake] DLC. The honest answer is – I don’t know. That said, I find it incredibly unlikely as to my knowledge work stopped on Resident Evil 3 some time ago. M-Two is already working on another game. [Resident Evil] Resistance has some updates coming up if interested in that.”

The other game, according to previous rumours, will be a bigger remake that allows M-Two (formed of ex-PlatinumGames members) to have more involvement in the project than on Jill’s adventure. We have no clue what Capcom IP they might be remaking, but according to this reply, we’ll learn soon what Capcom is planning, but the timing might be a little unfortunate (as Japan is also getting trounced by the coronavirus), plus this title is about two years away from launch, which means it would arrive in the first quarter of 2022. (And then, it means the game would be on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.)

Capcom might be waiting for the reveal of the PlayStation 5, as they don’t tend to often team up with Microsoft. Until then, the Japanese company is said to work on Resident Evil 8: Village, which started as Resident Evil Revelations 3, and if these rumours are right, the game should also be announced later this month.

Resident Evil 3 Remake should at least receive the Mercenaries minigame. That was fun on the PS1.
