Sony allegedly has contacted every major publisher.

Yesterday, we wrote about how Imran Khan (former editor at Game Informer) said during the Kinda Funny Games Daily podcast that Sony is planning to contact a lot of third-party publishers to get some exclusivity deals in one shape or another. (An example of it would be Spider-Man being a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5-exclusive character in Marvel’s Avengers.)

„There isn’t a major third party out there Sony failed to approach asking what kind of deals they could work out. Some had content, some had games, some had content and games,” Khan said on the ResetEra forums. But where’s Microsoft in this? „It is not like Microsoft was not willing to offer, they just didn’t want to pay the asking price, because Sony approached with pretty high numbers in the first place.” So Sony beat them to the punch by outbidding Microsoft before they had a chance.

Khan also brought up two terms that we should remember: „That “PlayStation Advantage” branding and “Console Exclusive” wording are both going to get a lot of use in the next few years.” He mentioned Final Fantasy XVI as well: „XVI is real. It was supposed to get announced in June’s [PlayStation 5: The Future of Gaming] event. It’s supposedly closer than most people would think. It has some kind of PlayStation 5 exclusivity (it was vague back then but it seems to be full timed exclusivity now). And I have no idea why they haven’t announced it yet.” We still firmly believe that Project Athia IS Final Fantasy XVI. We already said it when it was announced…

All that needs to happen is Sony finally confirming how much the PlayStation 5 cost and when it will become available.
