Gods & Monsters that was announced over a year ago – and it still is under development… – is going to get a new name by Ubisoft, and we might have found it.
The Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee has rated Immortals: Fenyx Rising for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. We’re intentionally saying that it’s not a new game, as the June 2019-announced Gods & Monsters (which is meant to be a storybook adventure game) has a protagonist called Fenyx. And in June, when a one-year-old Google Stadia build of the game was leaked, the French publisher has confirmed the age of the build, and they also said that they will retitle the game later this summer.
Well, this summer thought is not going to happen – we’re on the last day of August, after all -, and it’s unlikely to see Ubisoft pull something out of its hat out of nowhere today. The name will be changed, and the company got caught once again by the press (who have been hounding them due to the internal sexual harassments that resulted in many people either leaving or getting fired – an example of them would be Ashraf Ismail, the former director of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla…).
So expect the next Ubisoft Forward (which originally started as an E3 replacement program), which will happen in September, to confirm it, and here, they will also have to talk about the internal situation of the company, as they no longer can hide behind the pre-recorded excuse.
Immortals: Fenyx Rising is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC, but we shouldn’t rule out a PlayStation 5 and an Xbox Series X version, as they previously confirmed them. All of Ubisoft’s games a cross-gen for the next half of the year, but the Fall 2021 titles might change this.
