System Shock Remake: An Entry Into The Cyberspace [VIDEO]

System Shock’s new version received a developer diary.

The Cyberspace gameplay reminds us of something that we have seen on the Amiga in the nineties in the Stardust games. The developer of that IP is now called Housemarque, who was mentioned the other day in the news about their upcoming PlayStation 5-exclusive game. The world is indeed small. The developer diary is also fitting: it’s called The Art of Gore, and Nightdive Studios couldn’t miss the opportunity to include some gore. Without it, the game wouldn’t be as is. We can see how painful the dismemberment can be, and the damage effects also look to be top-notch at the moment.

„After two decades, Nightdive Studios is rebooting and re-imagining the original System Shock. We will keep the new game true to the classic experience, keeping all the things you loved while giving today’s gamers the modern look and feel expected from a AAA title. With the help of members of the original team, including the original Voice Actor of SHODAN, Terri Brosius, Citadel Station has never been more immersive or terrifying!”, the game’s Steam page says. SHODAN happens to be the AI that is out to kill you at every possible corner, and the third game will be no exception to the rule (although we have yet to hear more about it since the new publisher was confirmed to be Tencent – the previous one was Starbreeze that ran into financial troubles).

System Shock’s remake doesn’t even have an approximate release window either. By the time it gets completed, the two consoles, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One might be obsolete. The game’s also in development for PC. You can find an alpha demo both on Steam and GOG. It might be completed, eventually.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
