The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers (or the PC users of the service) will not receive Electronic Arts‘ service in 2020.

Microsoft sneakily announced on its website that there is now a slight change in plans when it comes to Electronic Arts’ service that is similar to what Microsoft offers with its (Xbox) Game Pass: it’s a subscription service that allows you to play a backlog of EA’s titles.

„When we originally set out to write this blog post, which would announce the availability of EA Play on PC with Xbox Game Pass, it looked a little bit different. Unfortunately, what had been a celebratory post is now one asking for a little more patience: We decided to delay until 2021 the release of EA Play on PC as part of the Xbox Game Pass for PC and Ultimate memberships.

We established this partnership with Electronic Arts because they are as passionate as we are about helping people and communities discover great games, and we knew we could provide a great experience for members by working together. To deliver on that, we need more time to provide the Xbox Game Pass experience. We’ll have more to share early next year; as always, we appreciate your support as we work to deliver this experience for our Xbox Game Pass members. Stay tuned for more information,” Microsoft wrote.

WCCFTech contacted Microsoft about the situation, and a spokesperson provided the following response: „The Xbox Game Pass experience wasn’t ready for our members, we need more time to provide the experience and will make EA Play available for Xbox Game Pass PC and Ultimate members in 2021.”

So it’s not coming this year, but probably early in 2021. Seeing how the Game Pass got two significant updates this December (we mentioned both of them), we can let it slide. It’s almost the end of the year.
