Jim Ryan, the CEO and president of Sony Interactive Entertainment has also had a few choice words about CD Projekt RED, who decided to delay its game’s next big patch.
„While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyberattack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this, unfortunately, will not happen — we’ll need some additional time. Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get.
With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March. It’s not the news we enjoy sharing, but we want to make sure we launch this update properly. Stay tuned for more information as the time draws closer. Thank you for your continued patience and support,” CD Projekt RED (CDPR for short) wrote on Twitter. Perhaps they should have delayed the game itself to have it launch in a better state. But it’s too late to change that.
Ryan’s interview with GQ Magazine was so big that we still have to mention some parts of it despite yesterday’s big PlayStation post. He didn’t name CDPR in his comment, but it is easy to find out who and what he was talking about: „You know, there are two approaches to this: you can either hold the date and put out the game irrespective of quality or you can ship it when it’s right. We have always taken the latter approach. There have been some fairly high-profile instances of publishers trying the former approach,” Ryan said. And Cyberpunk 2077 is still not available on the PlayStation Store!
So the Poles’ situation is still far from being rosy.
