Microsoft might have spent a lot of money so that Electronic Arts‘ next Battlefield can be available on the subscription service right from day one.
In the newest The Xbox Era podcast, Shpeshal Ed hinted at Battlefield‘s next instalment joining Xbox Game Pass: „Here’s what I can say — there’s a certain third-party AAA first-person shooter that is highly likely to be launching on Game Pass this fall.” We can rule Call of Duty out: Activision Blizzard is in cahoots with Sony and not Microsoft. And this sentence was pretty much confirmed by Tom Henderson, a Battlefield insider. If this is true, Electronic Arts might have a bigger player base at launch, as they wouldn’t have to spend 60 dollars to get access to the game.
Microsoft announced what Game Pass is getting this month. From April 8 Grand Theft Auto V (cloud – Android; console – Xbox Series, Xbox One), Zombie Army 4: Dead War (PC, console, cloud), Disneyland Adventures (cloud), and Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure (cloud) join the service, followed by NHL 21 on April 12 (console, EA Play – you need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for EA Play on console but NOT on PC!), and Rain on Your Parade (PC, console, cloud – indie title, ID@Xbox) and Pathway (PC, ID@Xbox), respectively. On April 20, the previously PlayStation-exclusive MLB The Show’s new title, MLB The Show 21 joins (console, cloud).
You can play over 50 touch control-enabled titles on Android. You can find the full list here. On an Xbox console, you can either join your friend’s multiplayer session or start downloading the game they play under the Play with Friends menu. Microsoft also reminds us of the addition of Genesis Noir (cloud, ID@Xbox), and Octopath Traveler (cloud). There aren’t many DLC (Among Us: The Airship Update on PC; Gears 5: Free Batista as Marcus Skin is available until April 12; Grounded Photo Mode Update; Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s season 6 started on April 7).
The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate perks include Sea of Thieves: Ocean Crawler Bundle; Gems of War: Shadow Dragon Legendary Starter Pack; Phantasy Star Online 2: April Member Pack; Apex Legends: Have Faith Weapon Charm; and Spellbreak: Chapter 2 Pass. The last two are available from April 8. For 150 points each, these Xbox Game Pass quests are available: earn 7000 Influence in Forza Horizon 4, play 2 matches in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, spend 5 minutes successfully avoiding Alien detection in Alien: Isolation, and either find 2 Skyshards or Have 3 Alliance VS Alliance kills in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited.
Finally, these games will leave the service: Deliver Us the Moon (PC, console), Gato Roboto (PC, console), and Wargroove (PC, console) will all leave on April 15, and these EA Play titles on console all depart on April 16: Madden 15, Madden 16, Madden 17, Madden 18, Madden 25, NHL 18, and NHL 19.
At least there aren’t a ton of sports games now.
