Death Stranding Director’s Cut: If It Wasn’t Hard Enough At First… [VIDEO]

Sony’s new strategy involves re-releasing games in slightly expanded versions, dubbing them Director’s Cut; aside from Ghost of Tsushima, Death Stranding will also get such a version.

We read on the PlayStation Blog how Death Stranding will improve on the PlayStation 5. On PS5, it will have these new features: „Experience environment effects with the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback. Get closer to the world of Death Stranding with bespoke adaptive trigger resistance. Hear sound effects come to life in 3D Audio (requires compatible headphones).

Get into the action quickly with the PlayStation 5 console’s ultra-fast SSD and near-instant load times. Choose from two picture modes—Performance Mode with upscaled 4K and up to 60 frames per second or Fidelity Mode in native 4K—both with ultra-wide and HDR support,” the blog reads. So you can get either native 4K with a lower frame rate, or an upscaled experience with 60 frames per second.

What about the upgrading? „If you already own the PlayStation 4 version of Death Stranding, you can get the PlayStation 5 Death Stranding Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade for only ten dollars. Buy any version of Death Stranding for PS4 to get the Death Stranding Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade for PlayStation 5 for the same price mentioned above.” So we get a repeat of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut: you have to pay to upgrade to the new version…

The Director’s Cut of Death Stranding will have more weapons, equipment and vehicles, a variety of new modes (like the racing Fragile Circuit), missions and areas to explore, expanded storylines, and enhancements to the UI. There will also be new online features including Friend Play and Leaderboards, but we have to wait a bit more to reveal them. However, Hideo Kojima has confirmed on Twitter that it will also include a Very Hard mode. So if you need a real challenge, now you can get one. This version of the game will also include all the Cyberpunk 2077 and Half-Life crossover content from the PC version.

Death Stranding Director‘s Cut (which will also have an hour of new music by Ludvig Forssell, the composer) will launch on PlayStation 5 on September 24. A physical copy (aka the standard edition) will cost 50 dollars, while the Digital Deluxe will cost 60.
