The new trailer from Shin Megami Tensei V focuses its video on the character of Hayatarou, a demon who will accompany us on our adventure.
The new video in Atlus‘s “Daily Demon” series about Shin Megami Tensei V has featured Hayatarou, a demon based on a figure from Japanese legends that revolves around the temple guardian KÅzen-Ji. Legend tells of a wild dog who gave birth to three cubs, including Hayatarou, who would later become the temple’s guardian. After saving a local boy from the attack of a wild animal, Hayatarou killed three yÅkai to become later the figure who would avoid sacrifices to demons. Hayatarou’s grave remains today.
It is widespread for JRPGs to refer to figures from Japanese folklore, and Atlus is a specialist in this. In the video, we see an imposing dog-shaped demon. Due to his history as a guardian of the temple, the new character has a past as a demon slayer, which Atlus reinforces in his introduction.
The character shows a powerful physical attack, although we can also see that he has good support; in the video, we see how his precision and evasion increases with skill and other abilities to place himself as a target of the enemies. The character is also capable of healing the team, so it is shown as very solvent support for both defence and attack. Atlus has been publishing a series of videos about the demons that we will find in the game.
Shin Megami Tensei V is the latest title in the main Atlus saga and will be available exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 12 of this year. The game will arrive with texts in Spanish and will have two editions, a standard one with a metal box and a premium edition.
