Looks Like Beverly Hills Cop 4 is Really Happening, but Don’t Look for it in Theaters!

MOVIE NEWS – Eddie Murphy returns as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4, with Netflix and Paramount planning a two-month shoot in California for the sequel.

Looking back at the two or three decades before, it’s hard to believe that the decades before were all about Eddie Murphy with little exaggeration. Yet as a stand-up he was perhaps even more popular than his two idols Richard Pryor and Chris Rock, while generations grew up on 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop and Coming to America. But over time, for every Axel Foley, there were two Pluto Nashes (or Dr. John Dolittle), until after Dreamgirls in 2006, the actor-humorist fell off the radar completely. However, 2019’s My Name Is Dolemite showed him back in top form, giving his career a new boost. And as things stand, after last year’s I Came to America 2, Murphy is back for another franchise that made him famous!

Murphy has already promised to follow up Prince Akeem’s second adventure with a fourth Beverly Hills cop movie, and the project has now found its directors: the Bad Boys Forever director duo of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will be responsible for Axel Foley’s latest cinematic adventure. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, filming is set to begin soon and will reportedly last 58 days, with the crew shooting scenes in several locations across the state of California.

But be warned that Beverly Hills Cop 4 is likely to avoid theaters: Paramount Pictures sold the rights to the sequel to Netflix back in 2019. Although the deal is for one film only, if Reed Hastings and his team feel like it, they can add another movie to the deal – and knowing the streaming service, it’s almost certain that they will.
