One of these titles is one that was already rumoured to get delayed into next year.
Sony Interactive Entertainment and Guerrilla Games announced on the PlayStation Blog that Horizon Forbidden West, previously planned to arrive this Holiday season on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, is now set to release on February 18.
“While the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 certainly wasn’t easy, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for their unwavering support. We know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends, continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us,” said game director Mathijs de Jonge. Horizon Zero Dawn also received a performance patch to run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5.
Red Barrels Games delayed The Outlast Trials from 2021 to 2022. It will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. “Set in the height of the Cold War era, players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation. Imprisoned in a secret Murkoff facility, players will be thrust into a series of physical and mental ordeals, tormented by iconic characters, and challenged alone or in teams to survive with their sanity intact,” the game’s overview claims. You can watch it by clicking below.
Chernobylite isn’t getting a severe delay. Its PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports were planned to be available from September 7, but it received a three-week delay to September 28. The game will also be available physically for PlayStation 4 (35 USD/EUR; the digital will be 30), containing a detailed digital map of the Exclusion Zone, digital postcards, and the digital artbook “The Art of Chernobylite.”
“We at All in! Games pride ourselves in setting high standards for all our releases and are pleased with the games published this year. Incidentally, due to some unforeseen issues with the console build, we decided to slightly delay the launch of Chernobylite until it gets resolved. We want to make sure we always deliver projects in excellent shape and pushing Chernobylite’s console release date back a few weeks will allow us to accomplish that. We appreciate everyone’s patience while we take the time to get this right,” said All In! Games CEO Piotr Zygadlo in a press release.
“Chernobylite has been a labour of love, and we are humbled by the reception we have gotten so far from both players and critics. We have complete trust that the All in! Games team is doing everything in their power to bring Chernobylite to our fans on console successfully. While the delay is unfortunate, it’s also entirely necessary to live up to everyone’s expectations,” The Farm 51 development director Wojciech Pazdur added.
2022 is becoming a promising year.
