Stardew Valley Creator Teasing A New Game Updates No Longer the Main Focus

Eric Barone, the creator of Stardew Valley, stated that he is currently working on a new unrevealed game and not on fresh updates for his insanely popular farming simulator

After the end of the first official Stardew Valley Cup, Barone stated that he is currently not working on any future updates for Stardew Valley as he is focused on a brand new game. He made the following statement regarding the new game:
I’m not saying there’s going to be another Stardew Valley update, I don’t even know at this point. Right now I am focused on my next game. So, we’ll see.”

With regards to the details of the next game, or when it will be announced, he had this to say:
I may announce it fairly soon, what it is – no-one knows at this point. What I will say is that it’s another pixel art game, a top-down perspective similar to Stardew Valley. In some ways, it is kind of similar to Stardew Valley, but it’s also not a farming game. It’s something different.

The game has been wildly successful and just had its first tournament with a prize pool of 40,000 USD, plus it has been released on almost every platform imaginable, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and Mobile. It even has its own board game, which was released this year in 2021.

With any luck, Eric Barone’s next game will also be this successful, though it may take some time as he is a solo developer, and he worked on Stardew Valley since 2011 and officially finished in 2016, but the game kept getting updates since the release of the game.
