It seems that while most Sony games can be played offline without the need for constant internet connection – Gran Turismo 7 is going to be one of the outliers.

While the recent PlayStation 5 Showcase (Check out the trailer and news here) presented us Gran Turismo 7 as a feature-complete game, with loads of maps, cars tracks, and music, one tiny part was hidden away on Sony’s official release date announcement on their blog website.

So, unfortunately, Gran Turismo 7 will require a constant internet connection for players to enjoy the campaign and other features such as Trials and GT Café. Fans are not too happy about this, as the single-player experience is entirely separate from the multiplayer modes. Also, it sadly limits the player base for those who just do not have the proper connection, have internet issues, or live in remote places in the world.

GT Sport was similar online-only, but that was announced as an Online experience and was not announced as a mainline sequel to Gran Turismo 6. Either this will be for players to stop cheating their way through the game’s campaign mode, or to lock future content and DLC meant for the single-player campaign.

In the end, this is quite a disappointment, and locking single-player features online will always be a massive problem, as it can hurt the overall experience of the game.
