Techland won’t launch the Dying Light 2 sequel this year, after all, joining many games that have also faced the same fate.
WCCFTech quoted an interview from EDGE magazine, featuring Tymon Smektala, Dying Light 2: Stay Human‘s lead designer. Let’s hear what he had to say: “We’re double-checking everything in the game. Dying Light 2 is full of complex, intersecting systems created by hundreds of people – at some point in the production, they all click and start working together. Still, you also begin discovering various edge cases where maybe they don’t, and you want to fix that.
Those are usually simple fixes, but you want to make sure you test and catch as many of those as possible. Those extra two months will be spent precisely on this. And maybe we’ll also squeeze in an Easter egg or two… It’s a case of needing a little bit more runway, or perhaps even the control tower suggesting another approach to make the landing cleaner. You have to think about the crew the same way you think about the passengers, you know,” Smektala said.
So… nothing related to the alleged management issues? He also mentioned that the refined skill system will lead to every skill being “a game-changer” and that the grappling hook’s improvements make it similar to Tarzan’s rope, only “more physical.” Still, going by what Smektala said, they don’t want to fall into the same mistakes that CD Projekt RED has made with Cyberpunk 2077. We can understand their cautious approach.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human will launch on February 4 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch will receive a cloud version. Let’s hope there will be no more delays.
