No More Heroes Is Over, Says Its Creator, But Shadows of the Damned May Return

Goichi Suda confirms that they have paused the franchise, but the feedback of the third instalment has not influenced the decision. Another Shadow of the Damned may also be expected.

Goichi Suda, better known as Suda51, is one of those creators who has never left the industry and players indifferent. The creator of No More Heroes already slipped a few months ago that the third numbered instalment starring Travis Touchdown could be the last, but this time he has spoken clearly about it.

In an interview with Destructoid, he has confirmed that Grasshopper will not be working on any more No More Heroes games. This time they do not speak of a definitive end but a pause with the franchise, but what is clear is that a new instalment is not in the company’s following plans.

Of course, Suda has wanted to clarify that the decision has not been made due to the reception of No More Heroes 3, which has received opinions of all kinds since its official launch on Nintendo Switch on August 27. According to him, the decision was made during development, so they were going to stop making titles in the saga whatever happened concerning the game’s success.

But there is not only bad news for those related to the Japanese creator, since in the same interview, he has also confirmed that Grasshopper has claimed the rights to Shadows of the Damned. This means they have invested a good amount in the franchise, so we could expect a new project, not just some port of the original game.

While we wait to learn more about it, No More Heroes 3 is already available on Switch.
