MOVIE NEWS – Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has begun his next significant film role. Before his DCEU debut as Dr Fate in Black Adam, Pierce Brosnan was cast as the title character in the upcoming hitman thriller. Quick Charlie by Director Phillip Noyce ( Get Out, Danger Clear and Present ).
The project will begin production in January, as announced by Boomtown Media Partners and Screen Media Ventures.
Based on Victor Gischler’s novel Monkeys of Arms, Charlie Fast was honoured with an Edgar Award. The film’s deadline follows Charlie Swift (Brosnan), a man who “worked for his ageing mob boss Stan for twenty years and acts as a productive repairman and efficient assassin, fails to clean up the equipment. Now only Charlie will stop at nothing to avenge his friend, and he has no intention of letting anyone live.
Only Pierce Brosnan was officially announced for the cast. Directed by Phillip Noyce, the screenplay is by Richard Wenk ( Glory Seven, The Equalizer ). Daniel Grodnik ( Poli ) and Mitchell Welch ( Chain of Command ) are on board as producers. Executive Producers Charlie Quick are David Fannon and Seth Needle of Screen Media and Mark Damon and Tamara Birkemoe of Foresight Unlimited. David Nagelberg will also produce.
“We are very excited to be working with the immense talent that Charlie Quick is involved,” Screen Media President Fannon said in a statement. Pierce Brosnan, Phillip Noyce and Richard Wenk have made some of the most commercial and action-packed movies in decades. We are confident that audiences worldwide will seize the opportunity to immerse themselves in this exciting world and history.
Executive Producer Mark Damon added: “The first film I sold internationally was the first one produced by Dan Grodnik. Now, forty years and fifty movies later, it’s great to reunite Dan on such a fabulous project. Richard Wenk’s script is fun and exciting, a spectacular script, which will make a stunning film about a particularly sympathetic murderer.
Developing movies around a “particularly nice killer” may seem like a challenge to filmmakers, but it is certainly possible with the right person in the role. We have seen it perfectly and with great success with the John Wick Series that also stars Keanu Reeves as a violent ex-hitman that fans cannot get enough of. After three hits, a fourth John Wick movie is on the way too. Achieving this success won’t be easy, but casting someone as charismatic as Pierce Brosnan for the role is an excellent first step.
Pierce Brosnan will also appear in the upcoming superhero movie. Black Adam. You will meet the superhero, Dr Playing Fate, alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the superhero of the title. Jaume Collet-Serra directs, and the cast also includes Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Sarah Shahi, Quintessa Swindell, and Marwan Kenzari. The movie recently had a teaser on the DC FanDome and is scheduled for release on July 29, 2022.
