According to Spider-Man co-star Jacob Batalon, the actor dreams of playing Agent 007
Hot on the heels of the epic new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home that has fans excited for the final instalment of the Homecoming trilogy, Tom Holland is the focus of a career-spanning feature for GQ, where, once again, he is strongly hinting that his time as Spidey is coming to an end.
Several times during the lengthy interview, it was noted that Holland is ready to stop being the friendly neighbourhood wall climber. GQ also reports that No Way Home completes his Spider-Man contract, which contradicts earlier reports that Holland is still signed up for one more MCU movie.
While other Marvel actors have spoken before about life after Avengers, Holland has a specific role in mind: James Bond.
“He talks about being James Bond a lot,” Holland’s Spider-Man co-star Jacob Batalon tells GQ. “A lot, a lot.”
Tom Holland not only has his eyes on the British super-spy, but he’s not shy about who should be the MCU’s new Spider-Man if he really does go. He said in the interview :
“Maybe it’s time for me to move on. Maybe the best thing for Spider-Man is for them to make a Miles Morales movie. I also have to consider Peter Parker, because he’s an important part of my life,” he says. But also: “If I play Spider-Man after 30, I’ve done something wrong“.
The actor previously said he wanted to play that role as a British cinema lover in a previous interview with Variety. Evidently, he’s been talking about it to his friends as well. “I’ve got two roles coming up that I’m playing in the next few years that I’m really excited about, but I can’t talk about them yet. But I mean, ultimately, as a young British lad who loves cinema, I’d love to be James Bond. So, you know, I’m just putting that out there. I look pretty good in a suit,” Tom Holland said.
Is it likely that No Way Home could be Holland’s last outing as Spider-Man? Maybe not. In the run-up to the film, there has been a lot of talk about Spider-Man’s showdown with Tom Hardy’s Venom.
Do you see Tom Holland playing James Bond in the future? So far, the search for the new James Bond hasn’t started, but after the success of No Time To Die, the list of possible actors for the role is expanding rapidly.
