FromSoftware won’t modify it any further: we’ve found out what kind of beefy machine is needed to run Elden Ring on an appropriate quality on PC.
While the updated, finalised system requirements are still not available on Steam, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware have revealed what kind of PC will be needed to run Elden Ring at a non-slideshow level.
Minimum system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 10 (x64, no version number mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 3 3300X, or better
- Memory: 12 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (with 3 GB of VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (with 4 GB of VRAM), or better
- DirectX: DX12
- Free storage: 60 GB
- Windows-compatible sound device
Recommended system requirements:
- Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11 (x64, no version number mentioned)
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or better
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 (with 8 GB of VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (with 8 GB of VRAM), or better
- DirectX: DX12
- Free storage: 60 GB
- Windows-compatible sound device
The minimum hardware requirements may give some people a feeling of dejavu. It’s no coincidence: it was leaked a few days ago, then removed from Steam by Bandai Namco and FromSoftware. The only difference is that Windows 11 is not mentioned in the minimum system requirements, but all other components (processor, RAM, GPU…) remain unchanged. So the bar has been set pretty high after Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Twelve gigs of RAM and a video card with at least 3 GB of VRAM is not a small amount, especially not for a minimum! With the recommended system requirements, you need a pretty hefty rig (and since this is still a 1070 on Nvidia’s side, it doesn’t support ray tracing yet, so it’s going to get even rougher later on…), and 16 GB of memory isn’t that big of a jump from 12…
Elden Ring will launch on February 25 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
